About Peak Race Nutrition
Peak Race Nutrition is a performance nutrition practice specialising in evidence-based, individualised nutrition strategies for athletes competing in driving and motorcycle sports, as well as for individuals who pursue high-performance sport as a serious and structured hobby.
The practice operates through a multidisciplinary performance-focused approach, combining applied sports nutrition, physiology, and cognitive performance science. Our work extends beyond short-term performance outcomes, with equal emphasis placed on cognitive consistency, recovery capacity, long-term health, body composition, and overall quality of life. These elements are treated as inseparable components of sustainable performance, both in competitive environments and in long-term athletic development.
Peak Race Nutrition works with athletes across different levels of competition, providing structured support that is precise, practical, and adapted to the real demands of training, travel, heat exposure, and competition schedules.
Scientific Leadership and Academic Foundation
Peak Race Nutrition is founded and led by Marinos Michael, who serves as Founder and Scientific Lead.
Marinos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science and a Master’s degree in Sports Nutrition, graduating first in his class from University of Nicosia. He is currently a PhD candidate at the same institution, with doctoral research centred on sports that place exceptionally high demands on cognitive function, reaction time, sensory processing, and fatigue resistance.
His academic research focuses on the interaction between neural efficiency, central nervous system fatigue, perceptual and cognitive load, and physiological stress, and how these factors collectively influence performance output. These mechanisms are particularly relevant in performance environments where rapid decision-making, sustained concentration, precise motor control, and error tolerance are required under conditions of heat stress, dehydration risk, and cumulative fatigue.
This scientific framework forms the foundation of all coaching services, educational resources, and performance strategies delivered through Peak Race Nutrition.
Why Driving and Motorcycle Sports
The specialisation in driving and motorcycle sports developed through years of focused research on cognitive performance, fatigue tolerance, and neuromuscular control. As this work evolved, it became evident that motorsport disciplines represent a uniquely demanding performance environment, where nutrition directly influences focus, reaction time, hydration status, energy stability, and recovery, often more critically than in many traditional sports.
Drivers and riders are required to sustain high-level cognitive performance while managing postural endurance, thermal strain, vibration exposure, and limited opportunities for fueling and hydration. Generic sport nutrition models fail to account for these constraints. This recognition led to a deliberate focus on performance nutrition strategies specifically adapted to motorsport, rather than applying general athletic frameworks that do not reflect the realities of the sport.
Coaching Philosophy
The coaching approach at Peak Race Nutrition is structured, individualised, and strictly evidence-based. Nutrition strategies are never templated and are not designed to pursue short-term outcomes at the expense of long-term health or performance stability.
While performance optimisation is a primary objective, equal importance is placed on recovery capacity, nutritional quality, body composition management, and sustainable habits. Enhancing performance without protecting health and quality of life is neither effective nor responsible.
For this reason, all nutrition strategies are designed to support stable energy availability and cognitive consistency, effective recovery and physiological adaptation, body composition outcomes that enhance rather than compromise performance, and long-term wellbeing alongside athletic progression.
This philosophy applies equally to professional athletes and individuals who engage in motorsport as a serious hobby. Performance nutrition should be accessible, structured, and appropriate to the demands and context of each individual.
A Long-Term Perspective
Peak Race Nutrition exists to bridge the gap between sports science research and real-world application. The aim is not to follow trends, promote extreme approaches, or apply one-size-fits-all solutions, but to provide clear, scientifically grounded guidance that athletes can rely on over time.
Whether working with competitive drivers, motorcycle athletes, or committed enthusiasts, the objective remains consistent: to support repeatable performance, informed decision-making, and long-term physical and cognitive resilience.
